Throne

Throne Chair Series - March 2007.

The "throne chair" featured in this series belonged to my Great, great Grandfather, who resided in Chicago, and was an original founder of the Chicago Board of Trade.  This chair was a fixture in his office.

On Sunday October 8, 1871, the Great Chicago Fire struck the city.

While fleeing the fire, my great-great grandfather placed the chair in a horse drawn conveyance, and was one of the few items of their possession that survived.

Some years later, the chair was recovered in a barn by my Grandfather, who cared for it and restored it.  Through the course of time, it ultimately ended up in my studio.
